On what type of floors can my steam cleaner be safely used?

The HAAN Steam Cleaner is safe to use on all sealed flooring types, for example laminate, hardwood, tile, vinyl, linoleum, slate, stone & marble. Your steam cleaner is designed to clean hard floor surfaces that will withstand high heat. DO NOT use on unsealed wood. We do recommend that you check with your flooring manufacturer prior to use. By attaching the carpet tray, your steamer is also great for sanitizing and refreshing carpets, upholstery and other soft surfaces around the home.

What surfaces can be sanitized by using the steam cleaner?

Your steam cleaner is designed to clean hard surfaces like floors, countertops, stovetops, tile, ceramic and glass as well as upholstery; any surface that will withstand heat. DO NOT use on soft plastic and cold glass. On surfaces that have been treated with wax, or on some no-wax floors, the sheen could be removed by the heat and steam. DO NOT use on unsealed wood. This could cause the wood panel to rise. It is recommended that an isolated surface area be tested to verify suitability before proceeding to the rest of the area and to check with your flooring manufacturer prior to use.

How often do I need to buy new Ultra-Microfiber Pads?

The Ultra-Microfiber pads included with your HAAN are reusable. The frequency of use impacts the life of your pads, but with proper care, they can last for several hundreds of uses. You simply toss them in the washing machine – but please do not use fabric softener or bleach, as these products can damage the fibers. We recommend air drying, but you can also dry them on a low setting in your dryer. The frequency of use impacts the life of your pads but with proper care, they can last for several hundreds of uses.
Models: All Floor Steamers

How do I wash my Ultra-Microfiber Pads?

Hand wash or machine wash the Ultra-Microfiber pads in cold water on the delicate cycle with a mild detergent. (DO NOT use fabric softeners or bleach.) Using a washing machine may shorten the lifespan of the pads. We recommend air drying the Ultra-Microfiber pad for 24 hours. However, pads can be dried in a dryer on a low heat setting.

HAAN Steam Cleaners are specified at 1200-1500 watts. Does that mean the machine is blasting out up to 1500 watts of steam?

No, there is a regulator that controls the amount of steam released. Most vacuums run at 1500 watts and most steamers at 800-1500 watts. This together would blow fuse. A vapor steam is produced and the vacuum runs off of air as opposed to electricity.

Can the HAAN Steam Station be used for other surfaces, not just garments?

Yes! The unit has many attachments that are not just made for garments. HAAN considers this product to be a “Garment Steamer and Home Sanitizer” because it is portable. With the unit, you can sanitize beds, curtains, linens, toys, camping gear, blankets and so much more.
Models: GS65

Can I use the HAAN Steam Station on materials that are very delicate like silk or lace?

You are able to use the garment steamer on delicate materials, for example lace and silk. It is recommended that you always use the steam head in an upright, vertical position on these delicate fabrics. If the steam head is tilted downwards, it is possible that water droplets could fall onto the garment and damage the fabric. Also, if a gurgling sound is heard while steaming, hold the steam head away from the garment while checking for any kinks in the hose. If the hose is bent, water droplets can collect. If this occurs, extend the hose upward so it is no longer bent and allow the condensation to clear.
Models: GS65

Do HAAN Steam Cleaners work on pet stains?

Yes! HAAN Steam Cleaners are able to spot clean fresh surface stains by loosening and lifting the stain.

Will my handheld steamer clean grout?

Yes, but it needs a little help. Steam the grout to loosen the dirt and then scrub with the Detail Brush attachment. However, it will not remove the discoloration as this has been absorbed into the grout.

To locate your small attachments, check the front of the unit. There is a black plastic compartment that will open for access to your small attachments.
Models: MS Series

Why can’t I see much steam coming from the handheld steamer?

Handheld steamers may or may not be non-pressurized. The AllPro and HandiPro are examples of pressurized steamer cleaners, the Multi and Power & Finesse are non-pressurized. Non-pressurized steamers emit steam as an extremely fine vapor that is very hot which can result in the steam being less visible.
Models: All Handheld Models

Is the clicking/thumping noise I hear normal?

Yes, this is just the sound of the water pump pumping water through the heating element to the base of the unit. In some units the sound will lessen after the unit heats up, but if it remains throughout the duration of steaming, it is perfectly normal.
Models: All

Why does my swivel head not swivel easily?

The swivel head works on a spring system. If the mechanism is too lose, it could wear down the hinge and not be able to stand on its own. To maneuver the swivel head, roll your wrist from side to side.

Model: SI Series, SS Series, BS Series

When I went to use the unit, water came out. Why?

It is normal for some water to dispense from the unit when initially being used. As the unit is heating up, condensation builds up in the nozzle and when you use it for the first time, water may be dispensed but will turn to steam momentarily.
Models: All

Why is moisture left behind after using my handheld steamer?

When using your handheld steamer, the emission nozzle should be close to the surface that you are cleaning. This will break down and blast away messes while sanitizing the surface. Water being left behind is normal as the pressurized steam cools and condensation occurs. This moisture can be easily wiped away. Microfiber towels and sponges are available on the Parts and Accessories page.
Models: HS Series, SI70, SI75, BS20, MS Series

My steamers ready light keeps coming on. What does this mean?

The unit is a pressurized system so it does need to re-pressurize from time to time. This is done for safety purposes. Try using the steam on-demand trigger rather than locking trigger in the on position. If your unit is re-pressurizing after only a short period of time (several seconds of steam emission), please contact customer care for further assistance.
Models: HS Series, MS Series

Steam is coming out of the top of the unit. Is this normal?

The cap is not on correctly. Unplug the unit and let it cool down. Once the unit is cooled, remove the cap and reinsert.
Models: HS Series, MS Series

The body to the handheld gets really hot. I can't hold it. Why?

It's normal for this steamer to feel warm as it is a pressurized steam machine that uses a boiling chamber. Be sure to hold and direct the unit with the hand (for HS Series and BS20) or in the middle of the steamer body (for SI70, SI75). If it is still too hot to hold please contact customer care for further assistance.
